Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Poople Unlimited is a free daily word ladder game. You do not need an account to play, and we collect as little personal data as possible. This policy explains what limited information we handle and how we use it.

2. The Short Version

• No account or sign-up is required to play.
• Your game progress, streaks, and statistics are saved in your browser's local storage — they stay on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
• We display ads through Google AdSense.
• We use Google Analytics to measure anonymous, aggregate traffic so we can see which puzzles and pages are popular.
• We do not sell your data or run cross-site tracking beyond what AdSense requires.
• When you finish a daily puzzle, we collect one anonymous data point — which extra-guess bucket you landed in — to build the public "Everyone" distribution. Nothing identifies you and no account is needed.

3. Game Data (Stored on Your Device)

Your puzzle progress, win history, current streak, best streak, and average score are stored in your browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. Clearing your browser data will remove it. The data is tied to the specific browser and device you play on, so it does not sync across devices.

4. Community Statistics

The result screen shows an "Everyone" histogram for each daily puzzle. To build it, when you complete a daily board we receive a single anonymous signal: the puzzle number and which extra-guess bucket your solve landed in (0 = perfect, up to 6+). We store only the running count per bucket — never your IP address, name, email, or any identifier — and we cannot link a submission to a person. The histogram is the only thing derived from these counts, and it is visible to everyone who plays that day's puzzle.

5. Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

6. Analytics

We use Google Analytics (the gtag.js library) to understand how the site is used — which puzzles and pages get visited, roughly where our visitors come from, and what kinds of devices and browsers they use. Google Analytics collects this through cookies and your IP address, which it anonymizes before processing. We use the information only in aggregate to improve the game and the site; it is not used to identify you personally.

You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by adjusting your browser's cookie settings. Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.

7. Server Logs

Our hosting provider automatically records standard request information such as IP address, browser type, and access timestamps. These logs are used solely for security, abuse prevention, and performance monitoring. They are not shared with third parties beyond what is required for ad serving.

8. Children's Privacy

Poople Unlimited is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the game requires no account and we store no personal profiles, there is little personal data to collect in the first place — the only signal we receive is the anonymous, aggregated solve count described in section 4.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. In practice our footprint is small: we run no account system and hold no profile tied to you. The personal data we do process is limited to (a) advertising and analytics cookies set by Google (AdSense and Google Analytics), which you control through Google Ads Settings, the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and YourAdChoices, and (b) the anonymous aggregate counts in section 4, which contain no identifier and cannot be linked to you.

10. Data Retention

Anonymous aggregate counts (section 4) are kept for as long as the corresponding daily puzzle remains published. Advertising data is handled by Google under its own retention policies. We retain no account records, because none are created.

11. Third-Party Links

Our pages link to third-party sites — for example Google's privacy and ads settings. This policy does not cover those sites; please review their policies separately.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date above and — for material changes — note them on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
